The Trees of Te Koutu: NZ Landscape Painting of all of the beautiful trees around Lake Te Koutu in Cambridge painted by Kirsten McIntosh
The Trees of Te Koutu: NZ Landscape Painting came about whilst visiting the tranquil lake in my home town of Cambridge.
Cambridge New Zealand is a stunning town in the central North Island. We have a beautiful lake named Lake Te Koutu. This is where lots of the locals walk their dogs, run, feed the ducks and enjoy the sunshine. I took this photo as I love all of the the colours in the Autumn leaves. The ‘Town of Trees’.
I particularly enjoyed painting this piece as it is a place that I visit often walking our dog Grace. Every Wednesday I run up and down the hills with my adventure racing team mates. It is absolutely exhausting but rewarding.
I decided to paint this painting in layers of acrylic paint with resin in between. This is to try and create the depth and mistiness of the trees in the background.
A great portion of my paintings involve water. There is something special about being near the sea, surf, lakes or rivers.
Futhermore I always want my works to look consistent. Six or seven colours are used in my paintings. I am trying to achieve harmony within the painting and my whole landscape series.
Please note that due to the reflective nature of resin the photograph is showing some reflections.
I am happy to replicate this painting in any resin colour or size that you wish. Get in touch through my ‘contact me‘ page.
Thanks for viewing.
