The Tranquility of Pokaiwhenua Canyon
A large 27.5″ (410 mm) round Oil Painting on Board.
Finished beautifully front and back. Signed on the front with my signature in gold pen.
It is painted on the edges so no need for framing.
Protected with a matt sealant to protect against uv light to stop fading.
This piece is hand painted on board. This painting has many oil/acrylic layers that build up the colours and depth.
This comes ready to hang and shipped in safe & packaging. This painting was completed in 2020.
Please allow one week to process your order, whilst I make sure it is in pristine condition and create postage packaging for safe shipment. I’ll be in contact with the exact timeframes to ship it to your destination.

The Tranquility of Pokaiwhenua Canyon is a painting of a trip up the Pokai painted by Kirsten McIntosh
The Tranquility of Pokaiwhenua Canyon is of the Pokaiwhenua near Cambridge.
Another piece of magic in my backyard is the Pokaiwhenua Canyon. My husband is obsessed with boats. Quite some time ago my husband decided to take us and his new toy up the ‘Pokai’. It really is a magical place to visit. With all of its winds and turns and the foliage that is dripping down the walls and into the water.
It is a great tourist spot. Often there is kayak tours, in the canyon, to see all of the glowworms – which is very special to see.
Recently I also got to visit the canyon through an adventure race. Unfortunately, on this occasion, I was a bit too preoccupied kayaking to fully take in its beauty.
The thing that I love the most of this image is the different greens and how the light drifts on to the foliage and the water droplets caress each leaf.
The hope in this and all of my paintings is to create depth so it feels like you are drawn into the scene.
Futhermore I would like for all of my works to look consistent so I only use six or seven colours in my paintings. I am trying to achieve harmony within the painting and my whole landscape series.
I’d love for you to check out some of my other landscape paintings.
Thanks for viewing.
