Summer Reflections on Lake Te Koutu Cambridge: An Original NZ Landscape painting of the scene from Lake Te Koutu in Cambridge by Artist Kirsten McIntosh
Summer Reflections on Lake Te Koutu Cambridge painting came about whilst visiting the tranquil lake in my home town of Cambridge.
Cambridge New Zealand is a stunning town in the central North Island. We have a beautiful lake named Lake Te Koutu. This is where lots of the locals walk their dogs, run, feed the ducks and enjoy the sunshine. I took this photo as I love all of the reflections and seeing the willow trees dangling near the water.
In all of my paintings I like a challenge. It certainly proved challenging to get the reflections looking good and to paint in all of the reeds. I did have a few problems with the tree reflections in the water and getting these looking just right.
I particularly enjoyed painting this piece as it is a place that I visit often walking our dog Grace. Every Wednesday I run up and down the hills with my adventure racing team mates which is absolutely exhausting but rewarding.
A great portion of my paintings involve water. There is something special about being near the sea, surf, lakes or rivers.
Futhermore I always want my works to look consistent. Six or seven colours are used in my paintings. I am trying to achieve harmony within the painting and my whole landscape series.
