Original Landscape painting of Cherry Blossoms by Artist Kirsten McIntosh – Sakura – Cherry Blossom in Resin
Sakura – Cherry Blossom in Resin first came about when I decided to exhibit in a gallery in Oamaru, NZ. My parents travelled to Oamaru and took this photo there of the cherry blossoms and the bridge in the local park. I decided to try a different style and branched out to working in an art style named Fauvism.
It was a challenge painting all of the different lines that come with this style of painting. It was really enjoyable as it was something new.
I love the depth of colours in this piece mixed with the rich copper frame.
I really feel that the colours merge in this painting and it is very cohesive. The rich colours in this painting are unified. I only use five or so colours so that all of my work has a consistent look.
This piece is finished in a clear layer of resin which is poured over the acrylic painting which started out as a mirror.
It is beautifully finished in a copper frame with a leather handle.
Please note that due to the reflective nature of resin the photograph is showing some reflections.
This artwork is currently getting exhibited through the Auckland Art Show Online Exhibition running from Friday September 18 – Sunday September 21st 2020.
Thanks for viewing.
